Day 3

Psalm 37:23-24  The Lord directs the steps of the godly, he delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall for the Lord holds them by the hand.

Ever seen a child learning to walk? It’s one of the most amazing things to see them toddle along, you hold your breath as they let go of your hands and step forward, small shaky steps, followed by more confident ones, followed by an inevitable stumble and the dash to catch them.

It’s even more amazing when you see someone learning to walk when they’re older.  I was working with a 10-year-old who had cerebral palsy and he couldn’t walk unassisted. He attended a special needs school in Jos and every morning had physiotherapy. It was incredible to see him gradually get stronger and stronger as he used some balance beams to hold onto and took each faltering step. It was such a joy to sit with him in the mornings and encourage him to count the lengths as he dragged himself along with determination. One day he turned to look at me with a huge grin let go of the bars and balanced a few seconds before almost falling and grabbing the bars in time.

The day he came in wearing new shoes he was so proud! Each day he got stronger, happier, more confident until he could walk holding just one person’s hand. For me he’s the perfect reminder of God delighting in his child. I love how God lets us grow into the dreams we have, even when we stumble he’s there to catch us and steady us. He doesn’t let go of us – EVER.

So each day remember that he is in control, he is determining each step and he delights in you! You are the light of his life and he loves you!

P.s The little boys name was Praise! Let’s praise God as we continue learning to walk in this life with Him.
